Leaving Thailand…again

I’ve left Chiang Rai district of Thailand. This week I turned down two job offers stay and teach. I want to keep moving actually. So on to Laos to continue my South East Asia travels through to Vietnam and down to Cambodia.

I’ll be packing up and jumping on the back of a truck to make it over to Chiang Saen, then across the mountains via back roads to Chiang Kong, stamp out of Thailand, and get on a boat to cross the Mekong River into Laos for the New Year and Songkran Festival.

It is early in the morning as my hotel manger told me that I could get a local blue truck taxi at 6:30 am that will take me to where I was looking to go. I arrived and it was 6:10, and I waited until 8am to be taken to Chiang Saen. I’m going to miss the boat in Chiang Khong across the border to Laos to get a visa stamp. I have wifi so I’ll write about it… how it unfolds I’ll let you know later.
