Bangkok- A week long Chinese New Year

So I must have arrived in Bangkok at a great time as Chinese New Years celebration has started, and the best part is that it lasts a week long giving me plenty of opportunity to see it in full swing. I’ve often thought about how Chinese new years works as it is a different time that what I am traditionally used to in the west. So I was in for a treat. The Chinese New year consists of both Gregorian and lunar-solar calendar systems, seems a bit difficult to understand at first. The dates vary every year, since the projection of the new moon changes from year to year, Chinese New Year can begin anytime between January and mid-February. I landed at a great time. February tenth is when the big shebang happens and ill be sure to stick around for that. Until then here is a photo from a festival i was at while in Bangkok on the 5th.
